Maaya Sakamoto has a new mini-album out. (well, some say it's a full album, but at 7 tracks?) 30 Minutes Night Flight. 2 versions, a regular one and a limited edition with a DVD containing an original animation film entitled "Universe" by the guys at Production I.G. (insert me here drooling). There's also the box set release (limited edition, of course) which includes, as lifted from CDJapan: "Set includes stamp sheet (10stamps, each worth 80yen with a Maaya Sakamoto original design), scarf/towel, and letter set." (insert me here going all bug-eyed and close to tears).

Now, if I didn't run away, I might've had the chance to actually snag this, right? Harhar. Oh irony, I do love you.

*shrugs*

Anyway, the music is gorgeous, as always. I still miss Yoko Kanno though, because in the past those two names together made for beautiful, glorious music. I didn't like Yunnagi Loop, Maaya's album before this one, much (I liked only two tracks; Loop, because they used it as the ending theme for Tsubasa Chronicle, and NO FEAR あいすること because it sounds like something that she might've come up with Kanno).

Anyway, you can download the album here (don't forget to comment and thank her, please). The title track has techno elements to it, surprisingly. The rest of the album sounds okay too. The album cover has her sitting on the floor of what seems to be the inside of a plane, with a view of the clouds from above in a window above her. Maaya, always so pretty... ♥.

Favorite track? Track 04, 僕たちが恋をする理由, Bokutachi ga Koi wo Suru Riyuu (translated as the reason why we are in love). Only a piano and her voice. Her voice was just made for tracks like this. ♥♥♥♥♥ and it's her 27th birthday in a week's time! ^___^

Our room is still tv-less. So the computer stays on almost all day everyday. But after lunch I didn't turn it on and instead sauntered over to my cousin's room and turned their tv on. Channel-flipping is a bit tedious on their set, since it takes 2 seconds from the time you press the "+" button on the remote to when it actually changes channels.

I was looking for nothing in particular when I settled on channel 55 (Star Movies). I see Bill Pullman in the Oval Office. Oh goody, Independence Day. It's been ages since I watched that. So I finish the darn thing. Which is amazing for someone like me who never stays on a channel for more than 30 minutes (30 minutes = average cartoon show time). I guess I just miss our tv shows on cable I miss watching whole movies. Even on DVD.

Ask my friends, I'm notorious for borrowing DVDs and for not watching them immediately. Heck, it'll sit under the tv unwatched until the owner comes for it XD. And it's been some time since I've watched a movie inside a movie theater.

Well, not lately though. I was able to watch "300" alone last week (my second time watching a movie alone. the first one was "V for Vendetta"). Then just last Thursday I went with [livejournal.com profile] unlightedcandle, an Atenean friend of hers and a Japanese exchange student guest of the friend in watching "Dreamgirls".

I wasn't too keen on watching it at first, but the music won me over. Wow. Brilliant music. The movie itself was ookay, I guess. With noteworthy and standout performances by, of course, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy (I did not know he could sing like that! A pleasant surprise ^__^). Beyonce's character didn't even register with me. She was too... do-goody. Wishy-washy. But I was glad I got to see it.
