Tagalized Anime, J-Rock Revolution in L.A. and a Yoko Kanno interview

Cable TV has robbed me of knowing what anime our local stations have dubbed. How was I to know that they already ran through a gamut of anime that I also knew? (I was able to watch some episodes of Furuba, though it was grating to hear Tohru's tagalog va). Could somebody update me on all the anime ABS and GMA already went through? Yes, the last anime I heard about was Furuba, but even before that, please (see? FMA was already shown here and I didn't know it!).

Now GMA is adapting Lupin as a live-action series (BUT WITHOUT JIGEN AND GOEMON?!?!) and they're starting Bleach next Monday.

They're getting actors to do the VA job. Just like what kitsune_jade mentioned in her latest post, I also do not advocate actors doing dubbing. Unless they were properly trained and all.

Monty Repuyan FTW. I approve of him being Aizen the smexy bastard (I had a massive crush on him back in his Hiei days XDDD). Ranier as Ishida? I dunno, I didn't watch all those Starstruck batches.

And yes, how will they translate bankai? I rather like what mienai_hoshi used in her entry. "Umungol ka, Zabimaru!" and "Magkalat ka, Senbonzakura!" and "Tusukin ang mga kaaway sa kamatayan, Suzumebachi!" (though parang mas may magandang salita pa yata kaysa magkalat XDDD). But I swear if I hear Renji say that I WILL LAUGH SO LOUD YOU WILL HEAR ME ALL THE WAY TO YOUR HOUSES XDDD

Now this is interesting.

Former X JAPAN drummer and pianist Yoshiki and event producer 4 Fini (Vans Warped Tour) have announced the Jrock Revolution music festival on its myspace page. The festival will take place at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles during the Memorial Day Weekend. The all-Japanese rock lineup includes alice nine., Vidoll, DuelJewel, Kagrra, Miyavi, DéspairsRay, Merry, girugamesh, and MUCC.

TicketMaster/Music Today will begin ticket sales on April 21 at 10 a.m. The festival has set up a website at www.jrockrevolution.com for future updates.

The musical group alice nine. performed the "Akatsuki" opening and "Ikuoku no Chandelier" closing themes of Ginyuu Mokushiroku Meine Liebe wieder. DuelJewel, DéspairsRay, and MUCC have previously performed at North American anime conventions. Yoshiki's former group X JAPAN performed the music in the X2 music video and the "Forever Love" theme song to the X anime movie, but he himself is not officially scheduled to perform at the festival.

Shet, panalo yung tagalized version of calling out the weapons..hahaha. Tawa ako ng tawa dito. :D :D :D As for the tagalog of bankai..eh di bangkay (nyok, korny..hahaha). But seriously, maybe it's one of the terms na hindi na nila ita-translate. Like in Naruto, they don't change the word "jutsu" (er..yeah, but then again, I don't follow Naruto faithfully..naririnig ko lang minsan..hehehe). :D

sana nga hindi na nila i-translate pa yung Bankai, pero i fear for the general filipino viewers when they hear that word. baka nga bangkay ang isipin nila XDDD

Nani?? Then you'd better watch more more more! The first season recently ended (crap, bitin ang kilig-ness factor! XD). There'll be season 2 after a short break, though..hehehe. Imagine na lang kung may mag-cosplay as a Saiunkoku character, that's a bucketful of sweat worth in this sweltering heat! hahaha. XD

lolz. Michiko Azarcon is a friend of ours (actually, her name is now Michiko Tiongson, by the way... XD). She and her group have been doing the voice-acting thing for so long, so you can trust them to do a good job.

As for doing the same shit that they did with Initial D when it was Tagalized (aka... using the names of popular teen idols to boost their fanbase while sacrificing quality completely...), I say it should be illegal. -_-###

The supporting cast for the Bleach dubbed looks interesting. Monty Repuyan is a good VA, but as for the translators I am rather dubious because I know how they do translations and well...*shrugs* For the main cast, I'll see on how good or bad they'd be. I won't be surprised that they'd be using the English dub translations and translate it in Filipino from there since most of the time, that is what they fucking do anyway. (At least on most GMA anime shows that I've seen)

I can give you a list of the anime titles shown by GMA, QTV and ABS when we meet next time. I'll have to remember them all since they're so many.

My problem with GMA's anime dubbings is the seiyuu miscasting. Frankly their CCS re-dubbing annoys me to no end and that stupid sound effect they used when Sakura calls on her cards? Pathetic.

According to my mom who catches snippets of Lupin between her other dramas, it's based on the French thing the anime was based on. But then she's only familiar with the anime and not the actual french thing so we could be mistaken ^_^;;
