a very, very late 5 questions meme from [livejournal.com profile] lanoyee

⇢ Leave me a comment saying "DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT."
⇢ I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
⇢ Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
⇢ Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

1. What are you immediate life plans? Tell me about them!
Mm, my want to study and improve my photography skills. And perhaps start seeing it seriously as a career option because I'm not seeing myself staying in an office setting for a long time. This, and my ongoing battle struggle practice with calligraphy. Which is also looking to be a possible career option as well.

Oh, and Japanese. Mustn't forget about that ^^

ALL THIS! PLUS! how to iron clothes! :3

2. You get a free ticket to a place of your choice, SOMEWHERE in the world. Where is it?

... does it have to be in this world? ^^ (I'd love to go to the Dreaming, but duh, all I have to do is to close my eyes.) But if so, it'd be in Kyoto, Japan ^^

3. Do you collect anything, or used to? What is it?

I used to collect comic books when I was in grade school (mostly Spawn, Gen13, WildCATS and WetWorks. Image girl, lol). I still do, in a way. But they're mostly Vertigo titles now ^^ I also collect... books, ahah. Notebooks and blank cards/postcards make up another part of my collection, but the latter bits tend to get sent to friends when my mood to write strikes.

Ah, right. I collect books that focus on Geisha culture. And am starting on Guy Gavriel Kay and Jeanette Winterson books.

4. Who are your favorite artists (no matter if classical, comic, modern etc.)?

For comics, it'll have to be P. Craig Russell and Jon J. Muth (yes, they've all drawn for The Sandman. There's another one, but his name escapes me at the moment). Bill Sienkiewicz (see Elektra: Assassin) and Mike Mignola. I also like the Moon Brothers' art, but I've yet to see whole comics that they're drawn. I haven't read any manga for ages, but Hiroaki Samura still has my heart with that respect ^^

I like the style of Art Nouveau, so I'm mostly attracted to Gustav Klimt's work. And I'd love to say more on the subject or art, but I can't find my little book of art to make me sound smart and all XD

5. Describe to me what Elaine and Kira actually going out would be like!

al;ksgf;alksjdf ahahahah, you still remember this!

It would be... awkward at first, since Kira = younger!Lucifer of another universe! Sam (Vertigo!Lucifer) has been her constant tormentor/adviser and I suspect she secretly thinks of him as a father figure to her (more than her father has ever been at least) and perhaps something even more...

So that's where Kira comes in XD It helps that he's in her age range, and is sort-of-responsible yet fun to be around with. So I think Elaine would really flirt with Kira a lot at first. She'd probably develop serious feelings for him for a while, but I don't see it going beyond a certain length of time. But she'd definitely still want to be very good friends with him no matter what ^^

For those who'd like a bit of crossover hijinks with their Labyrinth (of course, it's he of the criminally tight spandex pants Bowie >3) webcomic, check out Girls Next Door. So far it has Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean, Les Miserables, Lord of the Rings, Sweeney Todd, Good Omens, Howls' Moving Castle and Neverwhere in its' roster ^^ A very good read, the art's excellent too.

[identity profile] lanoyee.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
:D You answered them!

OF COURSE I still remember Elaine/Kira. >3 Lolol father figure issues.

[identity profile] innocentlyjaded.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I fail a lot at remembering things! But I owe you, so it must not go unanswered! ^^

:3 I was frustrated that I never got to pursue that little thing. And yes, father figure issues X3 Don't get her wrong, she loves her uncle, but she could use with less snark.

[identity profile] lanoyee.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Pff, you don't owe me anything. But I'm glad you answered them anyway. ♥

Yeah, that was sad. :< We could, idk, try a dressing room? xD And yes. I remember ol' Sam was pretty famous for that. Not... that Kira's any better, per se.

[identity profile] innocentlyjaded.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 04:17 am (UTC)(link)

Ahahah, point me to that dressing room please ^^ I think Elaine can... tolerate Kira's snark more than Sam's XD

[identity profile] lanoyee.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
... eh, well, I know nothing specific yet. Though I suppose there's always [livejournal.com profile] 8_dressing.

[identity profile] innocentlyjaded.livejournal.com 2010-03-24 09:10 am (UTC)(link)

*glomps*

Hi hi hiiiii. Gah, I've been wanting to read your Temeraire fics forever, but I haven't started on the books yet ;__;

1. Describe what a perfect day would be like.
2. If you were allowed to take any number of courses in college, what would those courses be?
3. ... dragons or unicorns?
4. How would you explain Labyrinth to me if I completely missed the 80's?
5. What would be the one book you'd cherish reading over and over again?

[identity profile] myxginxblossoms.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
*glomps back ohay ohay*

Ahahahahaha, my Temeraire fics. Their primary virtue is their number--a lot of them are fairly eh, and since they're a modern AU, the books aren't strictly necessary. XD YOU SHOULD TOTALLY READ THE BOOKS, THOUGH, because they are really neat and I think they are nice.

DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT.

(although i can't promise to repost this, i can answer in the comments if that's ok?)

i'm glad you also think so. time traveling to ancient kyoto is a plus

(and answering this in the comments is totally okay too)

1. Describe your perfect movie
2. Do you believe in the tortured artist stereotype? (A repeat question, but I'd also like to know your take on this)
3. Do you prefer writing in English or in Tagalog?
4. Is there a particular point in your life that you'd want to relive or do differently?
5. ... what's next? ^^
dreamlessness: (mukuro is deciding what to do with you)

time traveling to anywhere is a plus, but i do approve of ancient kyoto <3

[personal profile] dreamlessness 2010-03-24 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
1. i don't have an ideal for many things, movies included. they just work for me or they don't. sometimes it's the way they don't work that makes them worth watching.

2. nope. i've met all sorts. i think a lot of people are tortured, not just artists, artists are just better at showing it. and also, there are artists who produce better if they're happy... although i think most of those are called "professionals" already :P

3. i'm not sure. i only write in english because nobody in my online environment can/wants to converse in tagalog. i need an equal opportunity to write in both english and tagalog before i can decide that.

but i prefer to speak in tagalog, certainly. it feels more natural to me.

4. my answer to this varies depending on time of year. sometimes i'm in the mood to regret the stupid things i've done, sometimes i'm in the mood to give myself a break.

right now i think i would rather not dwell on doing anything differently - i'd just like to focus on repairing the damage and being happy with my choices.

5. fucked if i know.

5. ... do you think the world is going to end in 2012? (... xP)

♥!

1. Have you considered being a full-fledged artist? (I mean, dedicate your entire life to your art)
2. Favorite artist? (in painting, sculpture, etc.)
3. If you could live the life of a notorious person (evil or otherwise), who would it be and why?
4. I've noticed that the lavishly-dressed ladies in your art don't tend to show their faces. Any reason for that?
5. ... would you consider hiding in a huge cake and popping out of it to surprise a special someone? XDDD

[identity profile] miir.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm replying here because I'm hiding from my LJ, Karen, sorry! ;; /still owes people meme replies and things

1. Yes, I have. I really wish I could. Just, I lack three things: means, talent, and conviction.

2. This is hard...! I don't think I can pick just one. I love M.C. Escher, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin, Titian, Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot, Katsushika Hokusai, and Islamic art in general (their calligraphy is gorgeous). I don't know a lot about modern art, and I don't have any particular favorites among living artists.

3. Julius Caesar! Or Genghis Khan. Or Qin Shi Huang. I-- ummm, like things on a grand scale. Among other reasons.

4. Well, it used to be a matter of fear: I wasn't confident in my ability to draw faces, so I left Murasaki's face blank rather than mess it up. After some time, though, I realized that by leaving the face blank and making everything else detailed, I called even more attention to the face. I like the contrast between detail and stark simplicity, and I also like inviting people to guess what the woman looks like, what the expression on her face would be, based on the atmosphere of the piece. (I'm still not very good with faces, though.)

5. Yes. Yes, I would. (PS: I showed this to my special someone. She laughed and said I'd probably eat the cake from the inside out before it even got to the point of the timed surprise.)

Doot doot doot doot.

... Now that reminds me of BEG's song "Sign" lol /goes to listen to it.

[identity profile] innocentlyjaded.livejournal.com 2010-03-25 11:38 am (UTC)(link)
BEG? ♥!

1. Describe the perfect job for you.
2. How far would you go for someone you like/love? or for an obsession/fandom? (... something like that XD)
3. Let's say you were plopped in the middle of the KHR universe. What happens next? ^^
4. Have you been to Vietnam? How was it like going there? If not, are you planning to go?
5. ... how would you end KHR? XD

[identity profile] fierin.livejournal.com 2010-03-30 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Brown Eyed Girls' song "Sign". ;D

As for the questions:

1) The perfect job would be something that would combine all my likes into one career. If that were possible, then I couldn't ask for anything better. But no, really the ideal job would be something that I like. Something that I can almost look forward to day after day without getting too tired of it fast. Because if I don't like the job then I'm just going to be miserable, right?

2) Um, depending on how you mean be like/love. I mean, I would do as much as I can for friends and family, you know. That's already a given. But in the romantic sense, I'll be honest and say that I don't know. I've never been in the position where I had a significant other in that sense so I wouldn't know how it felt. Oh I could say something optimistic like I would do anything for them, but really, I don't know if that would be the case. That person would have to be the one in order for me to do that. Anybody can say they would do any and every thing for that one person, but you got to ask yourself if this is the person you would practically lay down your life for. As for obsession/fandom, I'd like to think I'm not too obsessed to go to extremes so I guess I wouldn't do much? It's something for that moment in time and eventually it'll fade, that's what I tell myself so I wouldn't do anything over the top. But if I could do something during that period of time, I probably would.

3) Oh I don't even know where to begin. LOL If I were the fangirl I am and knew everything that had happened, I'd probably be asking questions left and right and just be... extremely curious. I'd want to know everything, why things happened the way they did, things like that.

4) I haven't been but I want to go at least once. I think everyone should see and experience the root(s) of their heritage, see where their parents came from and the like. I don't know when I'll go, not in the near future that's for sure, but I would like to go. Preferably during winter because I would die in the heat. lol

5) That's a tough one considering I don't even know what the next chapter will be like. Amano likes throw curves at the readers and it's a little hard to predict some things. But it's a shounen manga and it's already set in stone that the good guys will win and bad guys lose. Just how to get to that sort of end is what interests me more. I mean, I could give a totally fangirl response, but I won't because I know it won't happen. I'm just... curious to see how everything will go.
