I'm really, really slow.

But you guys know this already.
Stayed away, coming back to that meme. Because I can't really stray away from it that long.
Also, kicking myself because the last week of July went by without at least an entry from me. Wrong, that is.

***

I'm fixing up my Dreamwidth account. It's been floating there for some years now, but after LJ's hiccuping over the last few weeks, I think it's prudent of me to have an alternate place to post.

Just in case.

Two out of eight!

To those who still haven't, Please comment here and I shall aim to complete everything by week's end.

And yes, I think most of my memories will have a slant of fantasy to them.

Reviving an old meme.

(Because this is better than what I had in mind to post. That will still find its way here)

Comment here and I will write a completely made up and fictional memory of you and me.

Can piano scales be just as shiny/and fall off easily with a knife?

What I'm listening to right now. Let me share what I've put on repeat 981273491827 times already ^^

* Time to get back up again and start waaaay back, square one. Walked/jogged for an hour and thirty minutes earlier and my legs hurt like a bitch, but ahah my fault for stopping for nearly a month, tch. It's going to be... hard starting over, but oh well. Even my weight is right back where I started a month ago, haha XD.

* I... better get in 3 posts for Chrome starting next week. My rp mojo is in a rut, maybe my fabulous KHR in poly can help with that ^^ And man, my sins against [livejournal.com profile] lanoyee keep on piling .__.

* Why I keep on re-watching Dr. Who, I have no idea, but it keeps me occupied when waiting for downloads to finish and all that. Currently on the "Gridlock" episode, and can I just say that I'm really starting to appreciate Donna Noble (this after watching "Runaway Bride"). Rose Tyler will always have a special place in my heart since she's my first companion, but if I'm going to pick a space-traveling companion, Donna Noble is it! (River Song second).

* I swear I'll start re-watching Ano Hana, Ao no Exorcist and Tiger and Bunny >_<

* Manga-wise: Fairy Tail and HanaKimi (triggered by watching the new HanaKimi live action which... idk, I've yet to download subs for it, but so far I really like the original better :/

What was I doing six months ago?

... ah yes, I was fresh out of my last job. Well, nothing much has changed since then, except for a few commitments I've set myself to doing.

Last June 3 I typed up a note and made it into a Facebook note.

nifty gadget they call the iphone

right, i can see why a lot of people are so very attached to their iphones and ipads. the parentals decided to give me their old iphone. i was planning to get an android-powered something this year, but this works too ü
(Ah, ok I figured out the capitalization haha)
Will make this my phone first, e-book reader second. I've started reading the Sherlock Holmes stories that I got from Project Gutenberg.
Right, sleep. Woe my thumbs. they're too big for this touchpad

(no subject)

from [livejournal.com profile] heterotopic

1. book wishlist for the year? (make it long and strong! :p)
Gladly! Though I'm pretty sure this list will grow longer as time goes on and I remember more stuff.
  • Absolute Sandman (volumes I, II, III, IV)

  • Absolute Death

  • Blade of the Immortal Artbook by Hiroaki Samura already ordered this one!

  • My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me, edited by Kate Bernheimer

  • Stories (ed. Al Sarrantonio, Neil Gaiman)

  • The Satanic Verses and The Ground Beneath Her Feet by Salman Rushdie

  • Tigana, my own copy of The Lions of Al Rassan and Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay

  • The Millennium Trilogy (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest) by Stieg Larsson

  • The Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan (... okay, at least the first 2 or 3 books XD)

  • My Mistress's Sparrow is Dead: Great Love Stories from Chekov to Munro, edited by Jeffrey Eugenides

  • Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader by Anne Fadiman

  • The Pleasure of the Text by Roland Barthes

  • The Education of a Typographer, edited by Steven Heller

  • The Transparency of Evil: Essays on Extreme Phenomena by Jean Baudrillard

  • Orality & Literacy: The Technologizing of the Word by Walter Ong

2. dream place to go!
Wherever! Kyoto, Japan is still on top of my list though. And I'd like to travel all around the Philippines if time and money permit me to.

3. tell me one thing you are really proud of/happy about yourself.
... this is going to be a bit of a tough question to answer? Um... right now it's my ability to stay afloat despite all the new responsibilities being hurled at me. It's already standard to most, but to me who has been more or less... withdrawn and most of the time without a lick of common sense in the wide world, it's one heck of a challenge. I'm taking it day by day as it is. I'm still lacking, but I'm pretty okay with that for now.

4. one thing you are determined to do/accomplish this year.
... just one? Can I mention two? One is to start discovering (or acting on) whatever I really want to do for the rest of my life. Second is to keep on writing everyday (in what/wherever! blogs, letters, etc.)

5. if you could take any major, what would it be? (can be anything; can be a postgrad major.)
Comparative Literature, with Creative Writing as a postgrad.

The last 6 books in the list are influenced by Gelo Suarez and Sasha, who are both phenomenal people.

Music sounds better with you

It's 1:30 in the morning here. I need to sleep because of work, but I'm still up and scanning a whole lot of songs to stock my new-old ipod classic (80gb) that my sister had bequeathed to me last christmas (since what seems like one-fourth of humanity have also taken to their iphones for that).

So the majority of songs on Suu (yes, that's her name :3) belong to Tori Amos, Tom Waits and Shiina Ringo. I'm looking forward to [livejournal.com profile] mienaihoshi's L'arc en Ciel, Luna Sea, Vocaloid and Nico Nico Douga ones. I'll dig up my old music cds once everything's been settled.

And [livejournal.com profile] lanoyee just recc'ed Laleh to me, and she sounds awesome ^^

Haven't been able to post anything on the book blog since I was down with fever for the past few days :/ I owe it my book wishlist and general reading plan for 2011 (which... well, no plans yet).

I'm also starting on re-reading all of the Harry Potter books before the final installment of the Deathly Hollows movie opens later this year. Well, re-read 1-4, since I wasn't able to read 5-7, aheh.

[livejournal.com profile] heterotopic, your answers are coming up!

The Book Blog...

Which is here, btw, is the reason why I'm still up at 4:30 in the morning on a Sunday. Go take a gander, if you'd like it.

Len and Ruby were here earlier and we had a grand old time watching part of L'arc's Trans Asia via Paris tour concert. We watched the first episode of Toshokan Sensou, I let them watch the Theatrical Trailer of Clover (alskdjfa;lsd CLAMP please finish the manga already ;___;), fed them the pasta I made (which they liked, yay!) and got them to drink a bottle each of the Caramel Vodka Mudshake. Yay! XD A generally fun time was had by all~

Lists. My life in 2011 is going to be ruled by lists, I tell ya. A list of things to buy at the grocery, the list of things to do around the house, the list of bills to be paid, list of bills that are already paid... I reckon I'll have more of that in the coming weeks. A... list of lists XD At least I'll have a lot of notebooks to write it down on.

[ The Fall is showing on Star Movies. I loooove this movie, Tarsem has concocted the most gorgeous images and locations in this movie, and Lee Pace is just so gorgeous here~ ]

(for wordpress users, does it have a cross-posting option for lj? i haven't explored wp much yet)

Things that need to be recalled

Just for now.
Elementary, but it bears repeating.

You can only be yourself. So go ahead and determine who you are and what you like. Not find, determine. Because it is most likely that you already have some ideas on what makes you tick, but you need definitions.

2011 is looking to be a momentous year for you. So go do it!

***
It's 3 hours and 30 minutes into the last day of 2010 here. I'm still up (of course), making a new book blog (andshereallyread.wordpress.com) and agonizing over my mother's 5-minute powerpoint presentation (which I haven't even started on yet).

I'm spending New Year's Eve solo at home, which is glorious. My cousin, her husband and their baby daughter will be spending it at their store (the only store who sells booze there, apparently) and the two other cousins (meh) will be spending it at their dad's. I've bought the food (cooking Tomato Basil Shrimp Pasta), the booze (two bottles of Asti Martini with 3 bottles of Vodka Caramel Mudshake left over), and the munchies for a sort of movie marathon.

The sister came home for Christmas and promptly fell ill right after grocery shopping for our Noche Buena. Which prompted me and our house help to rustle up the grub for the feast. For a first-timer at serious kitchen cooking (though the dishes itself weren't that complicated to begin with; turbo broiled chicken, cous cous, lamb chops, waldorf salad, no-bake cheesecake), it was challenging, but worth it. I'm cooking more this 2011. It was unfortunate the sister wasn't able to eat Christmas dinner with us.

The company's Christmas "party" (and I use the term very loosely) was... well, happened. Our department's Christmas party was... well, I'd tell you, but my brain was somewhere else. A bit... literally. And that's all I'll tell you guys haha

And I've submitted my resignation, last work day being January 07, 2011.

It's going to be a very new year. I've a list of resolutions (things that, for the first time, i'm actually confident of getting some done!), things are looking shiny, and I'm optimistic! For once! :3

How are you guys?

a very, very late 5 questions meme from [livejournal.com profile] lanoyee

⇢ Leave me a comment saying "DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT."
⇢ I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
⇢ Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
⇢ Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions

on to answering )

For those who'd like a bit of crossover hijinks with their Labyrinth (of course, it's he of the criminally tight spandex pants Bowie >3) webcomic, check out Girls Next Door. So far it has Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean, Les Miserables, Lord of the Rings, Sweeney Todd, Good Omens, Howls' Moving Castle and Neverwhere in its' roster ^^ A very good read, the art's excellent too.

damn.

3 months. I haven't been here for well over 3 months.

Ugh.

Cousin's staying here for the night to work her masteral thesis (due on January 7, she's halfway through with it). Trying to work on one's thesis the night before New Year's Eve and their apartment blessing wasn't working, obviously. So she called the cousin who had nothing to do and a whole lot of space to do nothing in.

I've noticed that our house attracts runaways/stragglers/escapists in one form or another. I've had 2 friends stay here for an extended period of time because they've fled their homes, and several groups of college friends stay here for 3 days instead of 1. Something about the house that makes them... relaxed, or detached from everything.

Hello lovelies.

***

The past few months have been... surreal-ly chaotic. With good bits interspersed sparingly. If you've been following my )Twitter and Plurk accounts (go follow now ^^) you'd have some idea of what went down with me. But it's just basically this: Work happened to me, and it kicked my ass. It's been a year and 6 months already, and I'm still adjusting to it.

Let's see what will happen when April comes around. 2 years. Then... we'll see.

***

My mother's belated birthday/early christmas present to me was a Canon 450D. I now have no excuse whatsoever to not pursue all the photography challenges I've been eyeing. Expect a lot of photos in future entries.

***

So, that's cameras, calligraphy (practice, practice, practice), manga & anime (which I'm getting back into), comics, Tumblr, writing (or earnestly starting on writing anyway)...

What else do I need to do to get my life back on track started again?

***

It is 2:05a.m here, December 31, 2009; 2 hours into the final day of this year.

2009 was a bitch of a year. I'm glad to see it ending. Looking forward to 2010 a whole lot ^^

This surprised me so much, I had to make an lj entry.

My tarot cards feel lighter.

Granted, I don't take care of my cards, they're the Vertigo tarot cards, and they just stay on top of my table in their dark velvet pouch but other than that they're terribly exposed. It's been at least 2 months since I last used them but I did sleep with the deck under my pillow to get them recharged so to speak

The pack is complete, though. So... Or maybe it's just me. Hmm, Constantine, are you screwing with me?

Also taking this opportunity to ask those who are more knowledgeable for tarot card care tips. Google is helpful, direct comments are way nicer to me >3

...'sup, LJ? It's been ages. I'm 26 years old now. Had my birthday with my sister in Singapore last August 22. Pictures and proper narration (lol) are coming up. I'm just generally bad with keeping my life in check, so I forget.

I owe people comments. Those will come. Eventually. OTL
