Her art entry for the Shell competition reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano artworks with gold on them.  Gustav Klimt came second, but the gold on his works are strong and pronounced, while the gold colour on some of Amano's works are subtle and ethereal.  It also reminded me of the artwork that introduced me to Amano in the first place:

I bought this EGM magazine purely because of the cover about 5 years ago.  Because I have never seen art that pretty and have never seen gold used that... subtly.  Was totally blown away.  Unfortunately, said magazine is lost (I never remembered who I lent it to *bangs head on desk*).

EGM Amano artwork led me to other Amano works, namely Sandman: The DreamHunters, his collaboration with Neil Gaiman.  Which led me to the other Sandman volumes.  And Neil's books.  And... well, you get the idea.

I still don't have a copy of DreamHunters (gah).  But I have scans of his earlier artbooks (Hiten and the like), a copy of Amano (his prints compilation) and a Marvel project he did with Greg Rucka, Elektra and Wolverine: Redemption.  Yes, clearly I cannot get enough of his work.  And I see that he has another project out, illustrating The Tale of Genji.  And another (small) Amano-Gaiman collaboration on a fashion magazine 2 years ago.  "The Return of the Thin White Duke", a fashion story with David Bowie as the image of the main character .

Met with allslashedout and lethologica earlier just to hang out.  Burned Ouran 17-22 for their viewing pleasure ^_^.  Met Ate Ging with Kuya Paolo there too, which reminded me that Angel and Marlon were just in Araneta watching the UAAP Cheering Competition.  Yay UST! Yay FEU! Yay UP! (in that order ^_^).  Learned that Faye has a very interesting job that *almost* makes her a CSI.  Finally saw pictures from Marianne's Palawan trip and that company dinner in which I helped her pick out her top.  Learned that Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf have those cute cake take-out boxes (will order cake slices to go more often in the future ^_^).  Raided National Bookstore's top floor for language help books (Japanese for me and Marianne, German and/or French for Faye).  Failed to find a copy of F.H. Batacan's "Smaller and Smaller Circles".  Was able to find a fairly recent back issue (Feb. 2006) of Nylon, my favorite indie fashion magazine.  I might apply for a part-time job soon (as soon as Faye texts with the positions available).

Life was great earlier.  I wish I had more days like what happened earlier.  *glomps sakura_ken and queen_akasha72* Missed you guys...

Decided to revive my I.ph blog account.  Just for the heck of it.  You might want to check that out too.  I'm just about to post some pics I took... of myself (RARE!!!).  In make-up (SUPER-DUPER RARE!!!).  Just warning you though:  I haven't got a clue about make-up.  The nearest to make-up I put on my face is pressed powder and lip balm/gloss.  Just experimented with my sister's extra make-up kits (believe me, she has a lot.  stuff my mom sends from London).

Eiga Sai on September 13 - October 2.  With contemporary films as the focus.  I'll be able to watch Twilight Samurai now!  I missed the German Silent Film Festival, so I won't allow myself to miss out on this one.  The films to be shown, schedules and venues are found here.
