Pop Japan Travel
Oct. 2nd, 2006 01:01 amWhen I go to Japan (in the immediate future... hopefully), I don't think I'd be in tours like the ones that are advertised in Pop Japan Travel, because I'd rather buy a guidebook and do the exploring myself or make friends over there and take their recommendations.
But one cannot help but be amused at the tour packages this particular website offers (all packages include the standards; Akasaka, Meiji shrine, Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara et al. The Studio Ghibli museum is also included ^__^):
Endless Summer Tour - with this tour, you get to go to the Tokyo Game Show (!), witness a tea ceremony, get to watch a sumo match... AND GO TO THE GONZO ANIMATION STUDIO!!! wai, there's also the option of seeing a Kabuki performance!
The Ultimate Ninja Tour - Something definitely to catch the attention of Naruto or Shinobi fans. You get a day in Tokyo where you get to dine in the well-known Ninja restaurant (you can guess the theme ^__^). Then it's off to Kyoto to visit the villages of the Koga and Iga ninjas (and there is an Iga Ninja festival, where everyone dresses up as ninja! XD).
The Gothic & Lolita Tour - basically you get to visit the stores that carry said goth-loli stuff (Baby, The Stars Shine Bright, Victorian Maiden, Angelic Pretty etc).
The Samurai and Snow Festival Tour - if i ever were to choose one tour from this site, this would probably be it (for the lack of a Geisha tour, i guess XP). the usual stuff, plus you get to go to Animate and Mandarake (!!!). you get to go to a maid cafe in Akihabara (though I'd prefer to go to one of those butler cafes). You get to go to an actual animation studio (not specified which studio), and go to Kamakura and Enoshima.
THE YAOI BISHOUNEN AND BOYS LOVE TOUR - how kind of these people to take in consideration all dem yaoi fans out there XDDD~ i'd probably take this tour too, but only with friends XDDD~ so you get to go to Otome Road, mecca of all things yaoi, onward to a yaoi production studio, AND GET TO GO TO THE SWALLOWTAIL BUTLER CAFE AND THE 80+1 BUTLER CAFE!!! and wow, you get to meet and have dinner with Makoto Tateno (manga/yaoi-ka of Hero Heel, Yellow, etc.).
...
i take back what i said earlier. i'd probably go on two (yes, two XD) of these tours, but would definitely return to Japan to do some exploring on my own.
